Refuge is a Church at Charlotte outreach partnering with Urban Ministry Center and Charlotte Family Housing to serve our neighbors.

Elizabeth House:

Refuge will provide volunteers for Elizabeth House (a Charlotte Family Housing shelter) on the following weeks in 2014:

  • Sunday, October 19-Thursday, October 23, 2014

Volunteers may stay overnight (you can bring one of your children or a friend to stay with you), provide the evening meal, help with childcare, pray, or provide new linens for program graduates.

Our ministry utilizes Sign Up Genius to facilitate volunteer scheduling at Elizabeth House.

Evening and overnight hosts will have to submit a background check before volunteering.  Click on the following link Background Check form and scroll to the bottom of the page to access the form.  These completed forms need to be e-mailed to Tammy Medlock.

For any questions, please contact Andrea Funk or Julie Deuink for more information.

Room In the Inn:

Church at Charlotte will again be partnering with Providence United Methodist Church (PUMC) to provide food and shelter for homeless men and women during the winter months through Room In The Inn. This ministry provides emergency shelter during the coldest winter months.  There are Room In The Inn sites scattered across Charlotte; we gratefully partner with Providence Methodist Church hosting at their location, 2810 Providence Road (corner of Sharon Lane and Providence Rd).

Church at Charlotte has committed to provide meals for many of the nights that shelter is provided at PUMC. Please prayerfully consider being part of this outreach.

The Room In The Inn program operates from December through March. The dates for Church at Charlotte participation will be posted and a signup link provided by mid-November.
