Ken and Phyllis Lloyd, CaC supported missionaries, have been with SIM since 1966. They began their work with SIM in Nigeria and have spent time in Zambia, Chile and in the US office. In 2007 they started working with Sports Friends, a SIM ministry that uses sports as a means for evangelism and church planting (Church at Charlotte works with Sports Friends and SIM in our focus country of Ethiopia).
Ken and Phyllis have three children and 11 grandchildren and they ask us to pray for wisdom to know how Sports Friends should grow and in what locations. And, you might just bump into them at church one Sunday as they are based here in Charlotte!

Ok, I know this is rather long (over 30 minutes), but I thought folks might have time this weekend. I promise it is worth watching.
The video is a 2006 interview with Bono throughout Africa. Bono is a fascinating man to me who has a deep and sincere faith and interestingly enough, an amazing scriptural knowledge.
But, regardless of your take on Bono, I think the messages in the video are powerful.
Enjoy!

Our feature ServeLocal ministry of the month is The Harvest Center. Started in 1992, The Harvest Center has been faithfully serving and ministering to Charlotte’s homeless and needy. The ministry provides hot meals three days each week, operates a food pantry, provides clothing to those in need, runs an after school program, and various other compassion ministries.
The Harvest Center mission is To meet the spiritual and physical needs of the homeless and to restore them to full and productive lives.
If you are interested in serving/volunteering at The Harvest Center, you can contact our CaC liaison, Mary Waite, at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
