I just read this on the Crisis Response site from the EFCA:
EFCA TouchGlobal is coordinating a response in connection with the EFCA Southeast District superintendent and an EFCA church planter in Port-au-Prince. Other partner ministries, NGOs and relief organizations have been contacted in Haiti as well.
Haiti’s envoy to the US said it was a “catastrophe of major proportions”.
Buildings, including a hospital, are reported to have collapsed, with streets said to be blocked by rubble.
The quake, which struck about 15km (10 miles) south-west of the capital, was quickly followed by two strong aftershocks of 5.9 and 5.5 magnitude.
Please pray.

Yesterday (January 11) was National Human Trafficking Day. I know I’m a day late in posting this, but I thought it was still pertinent to highlight.
Like many I was totally blind that there was in fact a modern day slave trade until I watched Amazing Grace: the Movie. The movie focuses on the life and ministry of William Wilberforce (Consider reading Real Christianity by Wilberforce) as he led the charge to end slavery in England. However, the other purpose of the movie was to bring awareness to the modern day slave trade.
Since I watched the movie I have read news articles and websites about the current slave trade, read books, and tried to stay more aware that this is in fact going on. Below I’ve listed a couple websites that focus on the slave trade as well as the Amazing Grace trailer. Please join me in praying for those currently enslaved around the world.
God Bless,

Put on by CSO Vice-president and CAC Supported Missionary Bob Schindler, Organic Outreach is not about learning a method or launching a program but about gaining a different and empowering perspective on outreach. This perspective frees us from the guilt we often sense around outreach and moves us into strategic and effective involvement in our natural spheres of involvement.
This is what CAC member Jeff Bardo had to say about Organic Outreach: “Introducing people to Christ is something even I can do! Outreach is not just providing an invitation to church, or passing the pagan to the pastor but understanding that by developing relationships with others I will have opportunities to move others closer to Christ. Organic Outreach has helped me to understand and develop these relationships with an ambassador’s purpose of moving others towards Christ. It’s not just the one time event its a living commitment.”
We are excited to announce our new Outreach Newsletter that we hope to send out each month. If you want to be included on our email list just email January at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and let her know. We’ll be adding online signup in the near future.
