Serving Others

June 2010

Commissioning the Staples

Posted on June 27, 2010 at 10:27am. No Comments

If you were in one of our services this weekend, you know that we joyfully commissioned the Staples family as they answer the call to serve as full-time missionaries in East Africa (living in Kenya).  Brian will be flying for African Inland Mission (AIM) and Jami will serving as a writer and communication specialist for the mission.  I’ve posted a recent video below that the Staples put together.

Please pray for their transition and ministry.  I’d also ask you to continue to pray for our other 29 supported missionaries!

You can find out more about the Staples ministry here.

Looking Back with Melissa

This is a guest blog post from CAC Supported Missionary Melissa Putney.  Enjoy!

Hi Church at Charlotte family!

Thank you for your faithful support of my ministry in Costa Rica! I was blessed to spend time with a couple of fellow CAC members earlier this month when they visited San Jose. As I shared with them, in addition to the support I currently receive from CAC and many of its members, my journey to the mission field included the influence of CAC from an early stage of the process. Please check out the story on my blog! I hope you are encouraged in the “small things” you do for the Lord, too.

Miracles in South America

I’ve posted a short excerpt from a recent blog post from Supported Missionary Brian Duggan that I think you will find encouraging and uplifting!.  Brian serves as the Inernational Leader for Latin Amercia for the EFCA.

S. is a changed woman, not through a self-help program, an intervention by friends and family, or through a recovery center. S. is changed because of Jesus’ love demonstrated by redeemed but faithful sinners like you and me. At twelve she was......Read the rest of the story here.

Our Duty

Posted on June 8, 2010 at 1:05pm. 1 Comment

I was reading Luke Chapter 17 this morning and a couple of verses that I’m sure I’ve read many times seemed to stare me in the face.  I think they carried extra weight because it sunk in that these were the words of Jesus.

Luke 17:9-10

9 Would he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? 10 So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’

Serving others, at least for me, can become a prideful venture, but here Jesus teaches that serving others is simply doing our duty.  We are called to serve.

It’s an expectation for all believers.  I hope and pray I can keep these verses close to me, especially when I start expecting a “Thank you” for some nice thing I’ve done for someone.  I know that time will come too soon.

God Bless,
RJ

Blogging Missionaries

I try my best to stay up to date with what is going on in the lives of our supported missionaries.  I’ve found the best way for me to accomplish this is to add our supported missionaries that blog to my feed reader.  That way I know when new information or stories has been posted.

I thought I would highlight a few of those blogs from our blogging missionaries.  I encourage you to click the names/links below and favorite their blogs so you too can continue to pray and support them.  I hope you enjoy reading their posts as much as I do!

God Bless,
RJ
