Matthew tells us that when Jesus went around simply walking and “doing” life, he saw people. No matter how busy he was he saw what life was like for the average person. He saw them harassed and helpless, the result was he had compassion on them. What do you and I see when we look at people? I am not only referring to our family and close friends. I am talking about the countless faces who intersect our lives every day. Are they a bother, do they annoy me or do they just not matter? Lord, give me a heart of compassion to those who come my way.

When is the last time you asked God to take a look around your life? I don’t mean looking at the things you do in serving him. I mean looking inside your life at what is going on in your heart. It is there in those hidden places that he really wants to do business with us. The Psalmist David knew this, listen to what he says.
“Search me O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Why not invite him to have a look today?

I really enjoy traveling and getting the chance to see what God is doing in other parts of the world with his church. I have to admit though I love being back home. You see home is where my family is, where I find people who know me and love me. It does make me wonder, as I am up very early writing this (because my body clock is way off) what being home in heaven will be like? I suspect it won’t take long to get comfortable in the presence of Jesus and feel very loved.

What does it mean to live wisely? That is the question we will talk about this coming weekend. I am sure that our definitions would vary but are there some common ideals that as followers of Christ we could agree on? None of us want to be considered unwise - in the sight of others and in God’s eyes. So let’s think about how live in wise ways. See you this weekend.

I will be unable to blog for the next several days. I hope you will be praying for our team and the wonderful part of the world we will see. Pray that we will be able to encourage our friends that our there and that God will work in our hearts as well. We serve a big God and he never ceases to amaze me.
