In his letter to the Romans, Paul gives thanks to God for their faith which is being reported all over the world. What a wonderful way to be made recognized. People knowing you because of your faith in Jesus and the testimony of a life being lived for him. My goals aren’t that lofty - I just want to have that kind of faith known to my family, friends, neighbors and maybe the city of Charlotte. Who knows you for your faith?

What a wonderful Easter weekend we had with all our services. I wanted to say thanks to Chuck and Paul for bringing us into the presence of the God and lifting up the name of Jesus. Thanks also to those who led us in worship at the Good Friday service, 5:21 Saturday, Traditions, Video Cafe and Sanctuary Live. To everyone who made the weekend possible from the greeters and ushers to the parking lot crew, from the sound techs to the many teachers who served - I thank you. When you see the Body of Christ using their gifts and serving it is an awesome thing.

“He is not here; he has risen.” Matthew 28:6
He is risen. He is risen indeed!

If there was ever a day that seemed hopeless it was the Saturday after Jesus was crucified. The gospels don’t record anything about where the disciples were, what they did or what they were thinking. We know they were together on Easter morning when the two Marys came to tell them the tomb was empty but what about Saturday? It had to be a day of dark hopelessness but in it all God was working. They didn’t know that, couldn’t see it but God was working. The same could be said for us today. We live with uncertainty, confusion and sometimes despair. Take hope - God is still working.

I very rarely add a second entry on my daily (almost) blog but I couldn’t let the day pass without remembering a friend of mine. Ten years ago today he left this world and went to heaven. I remember sitting in his hospital room and him asking me what I thought heaven was like. Together we imagined what was in store for him. He fought a courageous battle with leukemia supported by his mom and dad, his two sisters and a host of people who loved him. A decade has past and I still miss my friend. Some of you who are reading this know who I am talking about, to those who don’t - his name was William and he was 11 when he found out about heaven first hand and was wrapped up in the arms of Jesus. I still miss him.
