You Never Know

Posted on September 22, 2009 at 5:18am.

I received an email today about how God used this past weekend’s message to impact someones life. As I read through it I found myself humbled and amazed that the Spirit can use human frailty to speak to another person’s heart. It is a great reminder that whether from a pulpit or in everyday conversation God can and will use us. That is an unbelievable truth.

Even on a Monday

Monday mornings are tough on me for many reasons.  If there ever is a day that I find it hard to get going - it’s Monday.  So here is a question I have been asking myself recently; “Am I ready to see God in my day today?”  I took a big step (at least for me) and today, Monday, I asked myself that question.  You see, I want to be aware and believe that God is working today September 21st - even on a Monday.

Lesson in Trust

I heard a huge lesson in trust this morning. I listened as a friend told of a decision they had reached regarding theirs life. On the surface it made little logical sense but God had given them clarity and peace. As they were talking my mind went to Proverbs and these words. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, AND HE WILL MAKE YOUR PATHS STRAIGHT.” Trusting God may not make sense but it sure beats figuring life out on my own.

Faithful

I am amazed at the vision some folks have to start things. Whether a new career, a new business, a new ministry or a new church, my hat is off to them. It can also make you wonder what you are doing with your own life? I realize, however at the end of the day, no matter how I am gifted what matters to God is my faithfulness. So for all of us my he find us faithful.

Broken World

You don’t have to look hard to realize we live in a broken world.  I was at a luncheon the other day that presented a ministry which works in one particular area of this brokenness.  It truly can be overwhelming to hear the stories and see just how far we have come from God’s design for us.  What is amazing is how people try to “fix” their lives but refuse to bring God into the solution.  I am so grateful for the many ministries who are not afraid to have their solutions be Christ centered.  I hope that is also true for our individual lives - Jesus at the center of everything.
