Serving Others
An Overflow Evening

Almost 100 people gathered Sunday evening for the first ever Organic Outreach training. I’ll admit my faith was small. I had initially hoped we could get 20 people to come. That number was quickly surpassed with over 50 people registered prior to Sunday evening. We had 55 copies made figuring that not all 55 would be able to made the session. The weather was horrible and the NFL playoffs were on.
I was truly humbled and surprised when folks continued to arrive. And arrive. Thirty minutes in and we were over 90 people. Now please understand the success of the evening was not in the numbers, but I was encouraged that that many people saw this as an opportunity to learn and grow. Praise God!
I’m very thankful for a couple dedicated folks that made Organic Outreach possible. First and foremost I want to thank Bob Schindler for agreeing to teach!! A big thank you also goes to Jeff Bardo, Beth Schindler, and Tim Briggs.
If you were not able to attend I thought I would leave you with a couple of my personal takeaways from the meeting.
1. Evangelism is a process not an event!
2. Successful evangelism is NOT necessarily leading a person to trust Jesus Christ. Some cultivate, some sow, and some reap.
3. Successful evangelism IS helping a person move one step closer in the process of coming to a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Stay tuned for future Organic Outreach opportunities!
God Bless,
RJ

I understand your second point having been at the meeting but it could easily be misunderstood, may be better stated that in order to be successful it only requires being part of the process and not necessarily closing the process. Some sow, some water, some reap.

Glen-great point. The points came straight from the handouts, but I think you are right that, unless you attended, it could be taken out of context. I added: Some cultivate, some sow, and some reap to the end of #2. Thanks!!
