Church at Charlotte will host a blood drive for the Community Blood Center (CBCC) on Saturday, May 10 from 8:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., in W - 2.  You can register by clicking here.

According to CBCC’s website, “About 4 million people need blood each year—one every 12 seconds. Our local hospitals transfuse more than 100,000 blood components every year. When we think of the need for blood, we often think of emergencies, but for thousands of Americans, transfusions are a way of life. People who suffer from cancer, heart disease, leukemia and other major illnesses need blood on a regular basis to survive.”

Donors must be at least 17 years of age.  The donation process takes about an hour.  Each donor gives about a pint of blood.  All blood donations are processed and available for use between 24 and 48 hours.

CBCC is an independent, non-profit blood center.  Hospitals that receive blood from CBCC are:  Carolinas Medical Center, Carolinas Medical Center—Mercy, Carolinas Medical Center - Pineville, Carolinas Medical Center—University; Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia, NC; NorthEast Medical Center, Concord, NC; Rock Hill, SC; and Presbyterian Hospital, Presbyterian Hospital Matthews and Presbyterian Orthopedic Hospital in Charlotte, NC.
