Stirred By The Scriptures

I’m not sure any of us know how bad we really are. We look around and compare, usually to people who are decidedly worse than we are, we minimize our sin.  The longer you are involved in the Christian sub-culture the more you get quite good at it.  However the real problem with viewing myself that way is not the obvious answer.  It is the fact that the love of God and the depth of the costliness of the cross gets trivialized.  Deep down in those places that we rarely go and never vocalize to others we live like the cross might just have been an over-reaction.  You see I’m just not that bad.  When I think that way the need to develop a deeper thirst for God will most likely never cross my mind.
