Trusting God’s Love

Many of us would say, we know that Jesus loves us. Perhaps we learned it as children when we sang “Jesus love me this I know”. However sometimes the way that love gets expressed is confusing. John’s gospel tells us of a time that Martha was confused. Her brother Lazarus had died and when Jesus arrived she told him of her confusion. “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” The shortest verse in the Bible tells us how Jesus felt - he wept. His not being present wasn’t an indicator of his lack of love. For you and me today life may unfold in ways that we don’t understand. It may cause us to say - “Lord if you had been here.” In those times, as hard as it is, I want to say - “Lord, I trust your love.”
