The New Orleans team arrived in Gulfport, MS last night, safe and sound after a long but non-eventful 12-hour drive. Team arrived in good shape and positive spirits. Love this group already.
Today we have free time until 5:00, then an evening of pre-mission training. Pray for all as they take some time reading and discussing the book “Compassion, Justice and the Christian Life” by Robert Lupton.
Tomorrow, New Orleans.

Refuge - Homeless Shelter ministry week: June 19-26
It is impossible to read the newspaper or to watch a tv news broadcast without hearing about the plight of the homeless in our Community. Did you know that 7,000 people are homeless in Mecklenburg county alone? But statistics don’t tell the real story….
Consider Terry, a young mom with two young children fleeing an abusive home. Her job provides for basic necessities, but not for housing. Where does she go for shelter?
By partnering with the Family Promise Ministry, our Church Community helps to provide a safe place for Terry and her children to stay while she is working at putting her life back on track.
Would you consider joining with other Church at Charlotte volunteers to staff our next homeless shelter, June 19-26? During the week of shelter, we will be providing meals and shelter to 4 homeless families…right here in Charlotte! Our shelter hosting facility is nearby on Providence Road. Volunteer opportunities range from providing dinner to donating breakfast food to spending some time at the shelter. See what a difference you can make!

Lois’ Lodge
Lois’ Lodge is one of Church at Charlotte’s partnering ministries. It is a non-profit maternity home that seeks to share the love of Christ by ministering to the physical and spiritual needs of women who are experiencing unexpected pregnancies.
As one means of raising funds for this strategic ministry Lois’ Lodge is re-launching an upscale Maternity Home and Mom Shoppe. We need your new and gently used baby and toddler items of all kinds—car seats, cribs, bassinets, swings, carriers and clothing up to a 4T size. During all Church services Saturdays and Sundays both weekends June 18 & 19 and June 25 & 26 you can bring donations to The CAC ServeLocal Table in the Courtyard where there will be a large bin.
Lois’ Lodge WALK FOR LIFE
Make a difference in the life of a young mother and her unborn infant, WALK FOR LIFE, to raise money for LOIS’ LODGE, a Christian maternity home. The Walk-A-Thon is Sat., July 16th at Freedom Park; Check in begins at 8:15 am. Even if you can’t come on the 16th, you can walk on your own time and bring your sponsorships to Lois’ Lodge directly. This is a family friendly event—strollers and kids welcome! Check their web at http://www.loislodge.org for more information or contact Tricia Martin at 704-527-6845 and Annette Metcalf at 704-332-4003.

Here’s the latest update on our ServeGlobal Team in Costa Rica from Tim Wiggins. Please continue to pray for the team-thanks!!
Our travels to Costa Rica have gone well! Brian and Melissa have been
great hosts and got us started right after we arrived Saturday night.
Sunday’s worship at CIA under with Pastor Joshue was powerful and
inspirational for all - words cannot describe the worship service!
It is amazing to witness how God is working through Pastor Joshue and
his staff. We participated in the worship service and children’s
ministry. We spent time after the service having lunch with the
congregation and church staff. We enjoyed Sunday afternoon and
evening building relationships and enjoying conversation with the
Pastors: Joshue, Eduardo, and Jose and their families. Sunday evening
events and dinner were graciously hosted by the Duggans.
Additionally we are enjoying each others life stories, sharing
devotions, and prayer.
We included a few pictures of the events so far.
Praise God for allowing us to be here!
Tim

We are SO grateful to the Lord that no tragic harm was brought to any of our EFCA church family. A major portion of the devastation this week was centered in northern Alabama. Mark Lewis, who is the EFCA’s TouchGlobal Crisis Response Director, has been connected with Andy Wulff, our pastor in Madison, AL (a neighboring community to Huntsville).
EFCA TouchGlobal Crisis Response has dispatched assessment teams to assess the Madison/Huntsville, AL area, near Hope Church (EFCA) and in coordination with the EFCA Southeast District and Hope Church.
1. Facilities - Based on initial conversations, the church facility is intact.
2. Body - The Hope Church family was largely unaffected with possible some minor damage to some members homes.
3. Overall for the region:
We are sending an assessment team to the region on Friday, for a Saturday of assessing.
Power outages are going to last region wide for 24 hours to 1 week depending on the area.
