New Cuba Initiative

Invitation to Join Service Trip to Cuba

Our newest initiative for Cuba is a partnership with Honoring the Father Ministries who has been operating a baseball ministry in Cuba for the past 12 years.  They use baseball as a means of reaching “Cuba for Christ”.  They also partner with local churches to do what we would describe as revivals using baseball as the means in which the community comes together.  They are beginning to bridge into other sports such as volleyball, gymnastics, and soccer.

Church at Charlotte is planning a trip (date TBD) to serve alongside Honoring the Father Ministry and we want to invite you to join us.  Please contact Wayne Snyder at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) for more information.

Advent Conspiracy Update

Here is an update on the school construction project in partnership with Pastor Josue from CAC Supported Missionary Brian Duggan.  Wow!

I did a bit of roof climbing this morning and was surprised to see how much was done.  As you can see they are replacing five sectioned pieces of roof with one long one, reducing leak potential significantly.  They are taking the original off carefully because these are going to be used to construct two churches in the Cabecares indigenous area where Jose’s brother works with church planting.  They will remove the rust by hand, paint them, and voila! new roofing materials.

The workers are cleaning and sanding the roof supports then painting them with rust resistant paint which should make this roof last a very long time.  The structural support for the dropped ceiling is sound, so they will be able to put the new dropped ceiling in pretty easily.  I’m not sure it shows in the photos, but there is a lean-to type roof that juts out front the wall on both sides.  The space under it is wasted now.  But they are going to raise the roof higher and change this wasted space into offices for the school.  All of this will be within the budget!

So, things are progressing well.  The school is very excited about the project.

Exciting New Partnership!

One of ServeGlobal goals for all of our focus countries is to find ministry initiatives that align themselves with the activities of our supported missionaries.

As a church body, we are privileged to work with many great missionaries and are thrilled to announce that we have an unique opportunity to support a Wycliffe Bible/Seed Company Bible translation project in China. Both organizations are working to bring God’s word to the Elis people that live in a remote and mountainous area of southern China and to offer God’s message of salvation to a new people group.

One of the most exciting aspects of this opportunity is getting to work directly with one of our supported missionary teams, Kirk and Cindy Flanegan, as they coordinate support activities with the translation team in China. We are also praying that God will allow us to accompany Kirk and Cindy as they visit the support team in the near future and to form a more direct and growing relationship with the Elis villages that will be receiving God’s word as a result of this joint ministry effort.
