Gospel Renewal

Watch the Service Announcement

Church at Charlotte and New Charlotte Church are coming together to further extend the kingdom of God, both in the Charlotte metro area and around the world. Through this unification process, which will begin this fall, the churches will together form a single new church with multiple campuses under the leadership of Senior Pastor Chris Payne.

A Note from the Elders

Thank you for your continual prayers. When the Elders started this process several years ago we knew we were in for a challenge. We asked then, as we have all along the way, that God would clearly show us His will for this ministry now and in the future. The answer He provided was both stunning and beyond expectations.

It began with a relationship and moved to a recommendation from Jimmy to consider Chris Payne as Senior Pastor. From there, the idea moved through a vigorous and extensive process including church transition consultants, a Transition Team, a Search Committee, the staff, and then again through the Elder Board.

As we have gotten to know Chris Payne, his ministry, his family, and his heart we are confident that his gifts, talents, passions, and experiences have prepared him well for the position of Senior Pastor.

In addition, we embrace the opportunity to combine our ministry at Church at Charlotte with New Charlotte Church, which Chris founded and has led for eight years. Our two churches already are aligned in gospel purpose and mission, and together we have an opportunity to accelerate the reach and impact of our combined ministries in our city and world.

We are privileged and honored to recommend Chris Payne for Senior Pastor.
