Curriculum

In Church at Charlotte Kids at the SouthPark campus, we use the Tru curriculum from David C. Cook.

The Mission of Tru

Tru helps leaders, children, and their families connect to God, find their place in His Big God Story, and respond to Him through the power of the Holy Spirit. Every Tru lesson, resource, and product is created for this purpose.

The Philosophy of Tru

The Holy Spirit is God’s chosen teacher. He is the One who makes spiritual growth and formation happen when and as He chooses. Our role, as ministry leaders, volunteers and parents, is to create space for the Holy Spirit to meet with our children. This curriculum shows us 10 distinct environments that God clearly uses to form His followers.

Preschool

Our 2 and 3 year olds use the TruBlessings curriculum. This curriculum guides little children to know they are made and loved by God. Using developmentally rich activities, children are challenged to grow and learn as they discover God through His Word. Because repetition is key for this age group, each Bible story is covered for 2 weeks in a row.

Our Pre-K and Kindergarten students use the TruWonder curriculum. This curriculum encourages young children to experience the wonder of God. During the 9:30 hour, the children take part in small group activities that encourage participation and build traditions. During the 11:00, children begin in their age-level class for an activity that builds friendships as well as introduces the Bible story. Then the groups join together for a large group time of Scripture memory, skits, Bible story, and live worship. They follow up with a craft/follow up activity in their small group class setting.

Elementary

In the elementary ministry we use TruStory which reveals God’s redemptive plan to elementary-age children through the telling of the Big God Story and invites them to be a part of it! TruStory begins in the home with the HomeFront Weekly. Families are equipped to be the primary nurturers of their children’s faith through time together in God’s Word, prayer, and blessing. Children will come into a TruStory classroom ready to continue conversations about God that began at home.
